The 4th annual Sea-bean Symposium was held October 22-24, 1999, at the Cocoa Beach Public Library at 550 North Brevard Avenue, Cocoa Beach, Florida 32931. Details were provided in the flier (422KB pdf file).

1999 T-shirt design

There were displays, live bean plants, the Bean-A-Thon contest, Cathie Katz's "Nature Series" books, identification sessions, and slide presentations by Pete Zies as well as by the keynote speaker Dr. Curtis Ebbesmeyer (oceanographer and publisher of the Beachcomber's Alert newsletter). Some great newspaper coverage was provided by Florida Today on Oct. 17, 1999 and Oct. 25, 1999.

The newly created web page for The Drifting Seed newsletter was announced.

Canvas "Bean Bags" were available for purchase...
and for carrying lots of sea-beans!
